The Pioneer Valley Doula Collaborative (PVDC) is a newly established nonprofit, rooted in a deep commitment to birth justice, with a grassroots, birthworker-led model that challenges maternal health inequities.
What is a birth doula?
Pregnancy can be a big journey, with lots of questions and even more information. Doulas help navigate that process.
We offer all kinds of support for pregnant individuals and families including physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and shortly after childbirth.
Our organization supports pregnancy by providing:
Prenatal Support Groups: Monthly gatherings hosted by our doulas for pregnant parents to connect with their community members and have enriching conversations about pregnancy and parenting
One-to -One Doula Care: Prenatal, Labor, Postpartum, and Pregnancy Loss Support. We meet with clients prenatally to discuss anything that is coming up: pain, stress, lack of resources, planning for labor, and then infant care. From there, we provide support through labor/delivery and follow-up in the postpartum phase.
Community Resources: We connect our clients to valuable resources from other organizations or those offered by individuals in the community whether that be diapers, sibling care, or lactation support. We network within a wider community of birth workers to get our clients the things they need.
Our collaborative empowers doulas through collective learning, mentorship from local experts, and access to comprehensive resources, ultimately strengthening support for families in our community.
